FTA to major on irtec and Workshop Accreditation at IRTE Conference 23 August 2016

The FTA (Freight Transport Association) is sponsoring the IRTE Conference next month for the third year running, reminding delegates of its IRTE Workshop Accreditation audits and irtec Inspection Technician courses.

FTA intends to use the opportunity also to explain to visitors its current work in piloting a new course for workshop engineering managers.

Lawrie Alford, FTA’s head of automotive, explains that the latter is aimed at developing careers for high-level technicians, workshop supervisors and fleet engineering managers.

“This year the focus will be IRTE Workshop Accreditation, irtec licencing, technical training for technicians and the very popular workshop engineering manager training course, including the promotion of individual CPD,” says Alford.

“FTA is committed to highlight the very real need to attract school and college leavers to our industry – reviewing apprenticeship standards and options for young people to succeed within our profession is key to keep modern vehicles moving,” he continues.

“The advances of new technology can be challenging for many workshops, but this technology also provides an exciting opportunity for new entrants into transport and logistics.”

The IRTE Conference – the national event for the Institute of Road Transport Engineers – takes place on 28 September at Eastwood Hall, Nottingham.
