Fuel improvements and service lead to more Renaults for Sheard 19 July 2013

Sheard Packaging, the carton manufacturing and recycling company, has bought six new Renault trucks for its 18-strong all-Renault fleet.

Fuel economy, reliability and dealer service all played their part in Sheard's choice of three Premium 460.18 4x2 tractor units and two Premium Lander 430.26 6x2 trucks.

A further Lander 430.26 6x2 is on order for delivery early next year, with all of the trucks having been acquired through Renault Trucks distributor JDS Trucks Leeds.

The Premium tractor units have Privilege cabs and are already on the road.

The Landers have been fitted with T20 Palfinger hookloader equipment, supplied by King Vehicle Engineering. These join Sheard Packaging's waste paper division, operating a twice daily service to Scarborough and York, with roll on/roll off skips.

"We moved our fleet from Mercedes to Renault in 2008 and have been delighted with both the product and service ever since," confirms John Leonard, transport supervisor, Sheard Packaging.

"Fuel returns have been very good on all the Renaults – our carton delivery fleet is returning on average 9.77mpg, with some achieving above 10mpg," he continues.

"The Renault trucks have proved extremely reliable and, with the dealer and service centre being easily accessible, downtime is kept to a minimum," he adds.
