Fuel Matters – Lytx supports report findings01 May 2014

Telematics firm Lytx Europe has welcomed the findings of Shell's Fuel Matters 2014 report, published earlier this week (29 Aril 2014 – see link below) at the CV Show, which revealed that two-thirds of hauliers believe driving behaviour is key to reducing fuel consumption.

Despite half of those surveyed recognising that telematics is crucial to improvement, most also said they failed to act on such systems' data because of lack of resource.

Lytx says its DriveCam – a fully managed service, combining video, predictive analytics and a cloud-based driver performance improvement programme – was designed to solve this problem.

Lytx general manager Paul Jones says the DriveCam programme enables fleet managers to quickly identify the root causes of poor driving, without wading through reams of data.

"Companies get inundated with telematics data and simply don't have the time to review it all, let alone establish the root cause of poor driver behaviour," comments Jones.

"Without this insight ... companies often don't realise the true return on their investment [in telematics] from a fuel efficiency perspective."
