Fuelmax truck tyres save up to 1.6l/100km: official 17 August 2015

German fleet Spedition Bartkowiak, which recently tested Goodyear Fuelmax tyres under “practical conditions”, claims that it achieved savings of up to 1.6 litres per 100 kilometres.

The Hildesheim-based transport company trialled the Fuelmax tyres against fuel-efficient truck tyres from "another premium brand".

Under Project 20-20-20, 'and Spedition Bartkowiak says Goodyear's tyres are now playing a key part in reducing the fleet's fuel consumption to 20 litres per 100 km or less by 2020.

"During our intensive comparative tyre test, 320,000 km were covered on public roads by different drivers using serial Goodyear Fuelmax and another premium brand of 'eco tyres'," states Andreas Manke, fleet manager of Spedition Bartkowiak.

"On the three vehicles used, Fuelmax tyres recorded savings of 1.2, 1.5 and 1.6 litres/100 kilometres, compared with the other tyres," he continues.

"These are enormous savings [and] due to this clear result, we are currently equipping the entire Bartkowiak fleet with Fuelmax tyres."

And he points to the fact that a reduction in fuel consumption of 1.2 litres per 100 kilometres across Spedition Bartkowiak's fleet of 38 tractors would save 45,600 litres per year – based on 3.8 million kilometres running.

With diesel at 1.25 euros per litre, the firm could reasonably expect annual savings of 57,000 euros, equivalent to the cost of two trailers.
