Fuller Grab Hire has a win-win with Hyva and Thompsons20 November 2015

Fuller Grab Hire has taken delivery of a vehicle that can double up as a hookloader and straight tipper, thanks to its specification of Hyva’s Titan hookloader with a low-sided Wastemaster demountable body, by Thompsons.

“We wanted a vehicle that could simply do more, so we specified it with particular care,” says Matt Fuller, owner of the Surrey-based operator.

Hyva’s Titan, he says, stood out for its well-known features and ease of operation. “For the body, though, we wanted something as near as possible to a standard, low-sided steel tipping body.

“We don’t always want to carry heavy, high sided 40cu m bins, which are of little practical use in most general tipping applications.” So Thompsons Wastemaster body, adds Fuller, “is essentially a Loadmaster for hookloaders”.

The truck can double up as a standard tipper, employed on anything from muckaway and site work to delivering aggregates. Payload is less than that of a conventional tipper, but the truck can be used in a wider range of environments.

“In today’s world, a small but growing fleet has to be as versatile as possible,” says Fuller. “We can’t ever be put in a position where we’d have to turn a job down because we don’t have the right type of vehicle.”

Thompsons supplies and fits Hyva hookloader and skiploader bodywork at its factories in Croydon and Blackburn. Finished vehicles are then delivered fully painted, tested and ready for work.
