Glasgow technician wins Ryder’s top apprentice award10 September 2018

Commercial vehicle rental business Ryder held a ceremony recently at the National Motorcycle Museum to award its top apprentice technicians for 2018.

Chad Johnston, from Glasgow, won the overall prize of ‘apprentice of the programme’, picking up £1,000 and a VIP week-long trip for him and a guest to the US to see the live final of the Ryder Top Tech Recognition Program for North America in San Antonio, Texas.

Now in its seventh year, the event recognises technical excellence, work quality and all-round performance among Ryder’s highest achieving graduates. The company recruits on average 12 apprentice technicians each year.

Chad Johnston (pictured, centre) was presented with the award by David Hunt (left), Ryder’s VP and managing director for Europe, and Mark Carlin (right), Ryder’s head of operations development.

Awards were also presented to the top apprentices in each year: Alfie Brockwell, from Heathrow, won the year one prize; Jamie Stanfield, from Glasgow, won for year two; and year three’s prize went to Jack Goodwin, from Fenstanton.
