Goodyear’s Fuelmax range takes top spot in independent tests13 June 2014

Goodyear's Fuelmax truck tyres have taken top spot in independent tests to measure the rolling resistance of four leading tyre brands.

The tests, by TÜV SÜD, compared steer, drive and trailer tyres. In all three, Goodyear's Fuelmax and Marathon LHT II tyres, for trailers, outperformed the competitors.

The results, says Goodyear, show that the combination of Fuelmax and Marathon LHT II tyres could save operators £1,300 per vehicle per year in fuel compared to the next best brand.

Its calculation is based on a typical five-axle, 40-tonne tractor-trailer combination, with 315/70R22.5 on steer and drive, and 385/55R22.5 on the trailer.

"Fuelmax tyres are the most fuel efficient in the Goodyear range and these results underline our belief that they are the most fuel-efficient tyres on the market today," says Marc Preedy, Goodyear UK's commercial director.
