Gray & Adams graduates from carbon management programme 07 August 2012

Temperature-controlled commercial vehicle trailer and bodywork manufacturer Gray &Adams has graduated from Carbon Trust Scotland's carbon management programme.

The achievement comes after the bodybuilder implemented measures designed to reduce carbon emissions at its production facility on the Lyneburn Industrial Estate in Dunfermline.

James Gray, production director at Gray & Adams, says that having achieved the ISO 14001 environmental management standard in 2010 the management team set itself a goal of becoming carbon neutral in Dunfermline.

The following year, the factory's lighting system was replaced with low energy lighting and earlier this year (2012) waste management arrangements were changed so that 80% of all waste is now recycled.

Efficiency initiatives have been introduced at its Fraserburgh, Newtownabbey, Doncaster and Bedford production sites.

"We recognise the importance of managing our carbon footprint to keep our business sustainable as well as profitable, and to maintain Gray & Adams' reputation for quality and responsibility," explains Gray.
