Gray & Adams shortlisted for Made in NI awards05 June 2017

Trailer maker and bodybuilder Gray & Adams (Ireland) has been recognised for its contribution to the success of Northern Ireland’s economy.

The Newtownabbey-based manufacturer was the only transport industry business to make the finals of the inaugural Made in Northern Ireland Awards, run by media company Insider.

Gray & Adams (Ireland) was shortlisted in the manufacturer of the year (under £25m) category, narrowly losing out in the final to architectural mouldings specialist SAM Mouldings.

The trailer maker was shortlisted for its commitment to innovation, bespoke designs and sales record – it has grown by 40% year on year and employee numbers have risen from 28 in 1996 to 77 now.

Billy Dougan, managing director of Gray & Adams (Ireland), said: “We were up against stiff competition for the Made in Northern Ireland Awards from businesses that operate across a wide variety of sectors.

“So just to have made the final shortlist represents a significant achievement, and one from which every member of the company team here in Newtownabbey can take great pride.”

The company supplies temperature-controlled transport equipment to many Irish operators, including Lisburn-based PRM Group (pictured).
