GreenChem announces AdBlue price increase 20 December 2010

Steep increases in the cost of the raw materials for AdBlue have forced producer GreenChem to announce a price increase of 2.8p per litre, with effect from 1 January.

GreenChem founding director Teun de Bruijn says that a key factor is the Chinese Government's decision to impose an export tax on many raw materials, including urea for trucks that use SCR (selective catalytic reduction) emissions-reducing technology.

This increase has impacted on world prices and, coupled with a seasonal increase in urea prices and the impact of currency movements, has forced a 67% increase in the raw material cost in the final six months of 2010, he explains.

"We have no alternative to increasing our prices to consumers, and competitors have already announced, or are expected to announce shortly, similar changes, since they are faced with the same economic factors," says de Bruijn.
