H Parkinson Haulage reels in the benefits with Tiger04 September 2018

Preston-based H Parkinson Haulage (HPH) has taken delivery of 23 tri-axle trailers from Tiger Trailers, citing the manufacturer’s build quality and service levels as reasons for awarding its first order.

The 13.6m curtainsiders join a 150-strong trailer fleet and will be used to transport paper reels, although a custom load restraint system also enables other load types to be carried.

Three of the trailers also feature a fully removable restraint system, to enable the transport of aluminium kegs for brewery work.

The EN12642 XL certified trailers feature a hot dip galvanised chassis and body, requiring no painting and providing long-term corrosion protection, plus an over beam floor design meeting ISO1496 standards and ideal for carrying paper reels and general pallets.

Other features include an aerodynamic front panel with inner-strap stowage facility, SAF drum brake axles, Jost heavy-duty landing legs, Goodyear FuelMax tyres and InfiniShield UV-resistant curtains.

“We were delighted with Tiger Trailers’ refreshing approach to customer service at all stages,” says Steve Sugden, director at HPH.

“Following site visits, they provided us with prototype designs which showed smart thinking and a fresh approach, and then regular updates once the build got underway.”

HPH also visited Tiger’s factory before placing the order. “We went away seriously impressed with what we saw,” says Sugden.

“It gave us the confidence to award our business to Tiger and we haven’t been disappointed. I can see us specifying more Tigers in the future.”

The trailers are expected to stay in operation for 10 years and will be on the road seven days a week.
