Haydock’s Preston Scania workshop reborn after £2.7m refit10 November 2020

Haydock Commercial Vehicles Limited, the Scania dealer for the Preston-Liverpool-Warrington triangle, Chester and north Wales, has invested in £2.7m in a purpose-built, state-of-the-art service centre on land adjacent to its existing Walton Summit, Preston site.

Operations at the new premises began on Monday 9 November 2020, at which point the old workshop will be demolished to further extend the site's secure truck, trailer, bus and coach parking area. When complete, the new site will occupy 2.5 acres of prime commercial land adjacent to Junction 29 of the M6 and within a mile of the intersection of the M61 and M65 motorways.

"We are proud to be investing for the future and supporting our customers and the Scania brand at this challenging time," says Haydock Commercial Vehicles Chairman, Simon Dykes. "Preston Scania has long been a key site for us, and our success in the area has necessitated this development. The new facility is the latest step up for us, following on from the opening of our flagship Warrington site two years ago, and reinforces our long-term commitment to the area's transport operators and our position at the leading-edge of commercial vehicle service in the North West."

The 34 Preston Scania staff, including 16 technicians, provide a range of services including new and used vehicle sales, and all-makes servicing and parts. The premises feature seven 28-metre workshop bays with three 22-metre pits, with a door height of five metres allowing access for trailers and double-deck buses. It is equipped with new brake rollers, tachograph calibration equipment and a range of special tools.
