Heavy-duty trucks to debut at low carbon vehicle show20 August 2014

A special arena dedicated to heavy-duty vehicles will feature for the first time at LCV2014, the event focused on the low-carbon vehicle sector.

Run by Cenex, the UK's centre of excellence for low carbon and fuel cell technologies, LCV2014 takes place on 10 and 11 September at Millbrook Proving Ground.

The heavy-duty vehicle (HDV) arena is supported by the Technology Strategy Board (TSB) and the transport community at the Knowledge Transfer Network.

Throughout the event, it will feature truck operators and consortia members from the TSB's two-year Low Carbon Truck Trial.

The trial is deploying more than 360 low-carbon trucks (including dual fuel methane gas, dedicated gas, used cooking oil and aerodynamic trailer technologies) with a publicly available gas refuelling infrastructure, enabling other UK truck fleets to move to low-carbon HDV fuel conversions.

Latest performance figures from the trial vehicles, currently clocking up more than a million miles per month, will be presented by Cenex in a seminar session looking at how to deliver carbon savings in logistics.

The HDV Arena will also display a map, highlighting the current refuelling station infrastructure in the UK, allowing visitors to suggest where additional stations are needed.

The results will be included in a report to government and refuelling station suppliers.
