Henshaws Envirocare upgrades fleet with Volvo FL skiploaders28 May 2019

Macclesfield-based Henshaws Envirocare has taken delivery of seven new Volvo FL rigids – five replacements and two additions – all fitted with Webb skiploader bodies.

Supplied by dealer Thomas Hardie Commercials, the FLs are all 4x2 16-tonners, powered by D5K Euro VI engines producing up to 237bhp and driving through six-speed manual gearboxes.

The Day cabbed trucks have all-round steel parabolic spring suspension systems and vertical exhaust stacks, and the Webb skiploader bodies are TA8 ExtraReach versions.

James Henshaw, transport manager, says: “We usually operate on a local basis and our fleet our 30 vehicles works within a 12-mile radius. We find a manual gearbox is still the best choice for frequent skip collection and delivery jobs, and for maximum safety standards all the trucks have reinforced parking brakes acting on the front wheels.”

The Volvo FLs sport cab wrap livery by Tunnicliffe Creative Signs & Graphics, of Macclesfield, and have LED-equipped Kelsa light bars.

The trucks are expected to be in service for up to four years.
