Hiab announces release of HiConnect intelligent load handling solution04 July 2017

Hiab has announced that it is expanding its connected solutions offering with the launch of HiConnect this autumn.

The load handling equipment supplier says HiConnect will boost uptime and utilisation of Hiab equipment for fleet operators. Customers will be able to gain real-time insights via web-based dashboards showing the utilisation, condition and operation of their equipment.

The company, part of Cargotec, has previously stated that all new Hiab equipment will be connected by 2018 – and that ambition remains, according to Roland Sunden, Hiab’s president.

He adds: “Connectivity in itself though does not bring value, nor does data. We aim to understand our customer’s needs and develop new solutions together with them, where data-based insights are allowing them to run their business more efficiently and safely.”

The company says customer trials are proving successful, and the commercial launch will take place in Q3 this year.

The launch of HiConnect is the second in Hiab’s connected solutions portfolio. It follows HiVision for forestry cranes, with which the operator can control the crane from the truck cabin, using virtual reality goggles, controllers and connected cameras.
