High-roof Transit Custom boosts load volume 01 October 2013

Ford has launched a high-roof version of the Transit Custom van which offers 20% greater load volume and comes in short- and long-wheelbase versions, with a range of weight and powertrain options.

Its all-steel roof construction enables roof rack loads of up to 100kg, and side door opening accommodates three loaded Euro pallets in both the short and long wheelbase options.

Load space features include: load-through hatch in bulkhead, enabling loads up to 3m in length to be carried inside the vehicle (up to 3.4m in the long wheelbase model); and repositioned DIN and ISO compliant tie-down hooks on the body sides to increase the usable load area and allow easier floor cleaning.

Other adaptations include: a tailored, one-piece, easy-to-clean load floor liner; and ultra-bright LED loadspace lighting.

The new high-roof Transit Custom has a 2.2 litre Duratorq TDCi diesel with optional Auto-Start-Stop. CO2 emissions are from 178g/km and service intervals are two years or 30,000 miles.

The vehicle costs £500 more than the low-roof van and is ready for ordering now, with delivery before the end of this year.
