Higher load handling now available on smaller vans 12 June 2013

Operators running fleets of 3.5-tonne gvw vans can now get fully hydraulic cranes with maximum working loads of 500kg from Penny Hydraulics.

The company's new SwingLift FV500 fits in the tight space available and the firm also claims precision and tight control for safe load-handling.

It also overcomes problems of weight and ancillary services, with the developers using light materials to get the all-up weight down to 95kg, meaning it can be fitted to most LCVs.

Nor does the device take up too much space. The crane folds down when not in use to a stowed position just 39cm wide. Also, the hydraulic reservoir and motor pump are integrated into the crane body, protecting them from damage.

Finally, power is supplied from the vehicle's electrical circuits and Penny Hydraulics says it offers a range of installation kits for bodybuilders to fit most popular van models.

With a working radius of up to 119cm, the crane swings out from the rear or side door of the vehicle using its proportional hydraulic control to handle loads on and off the vehicle.
