Hills Quarry Products takes Volvo visibility to Big Bike Week 07 June 2013

Next weekend's (Saturday 15 June 2013) Big Bike Week Show, at Wharf Green, Swindon, will see Hills Quarry Products showing two Volvo FMs equipped by Volvo dealer Truck and Bus Wales & West with cyclist warning equipment.

Both have near-side sensors and wide angle rear view cameras, under the front indicators, as Hills Quarry Products moves forward with the Mineral Products Association's national Cycle Safe campaign.

A colour monitor in the truck's cab provides the driver with a clear view of cyclists and pedestrians in zones around the cab sides.

Both FMs on display have also been specified with Volvo's static cornering lights, which help the driver by panning round to illuminate the area in the front corners of the truck when the driver indicates.

Alan Mackenzie, group director of Hills Quarry Products, says three new Volvo trucks have now been ordered with Volvo's cycle safety measures, which will become standard equipment for all Hills Quarry Products trucks.

"We are supporting the MPA's campaign which aims to prevent collisions between cyclists and LGVs, by raising awareness on both side of how to cycle and drive as safely as possible," he says.

Cyclists of all ages are being given the opportunity to sit in the cab of Hills Quarry Product's Volvo FMs to understand the driver's perspective and experience visibility issues.
