Hodgson & Hodgson selects more Mercedes-Benz vehicles 15 October 2012

Hodgson & Hodgson has taken delivery of three 7.5-tonne Mercedes-Benz Atego 818s and a 3.5-tonne Sprinter 313CDI van.

The previous Atego trucks on its fleet had given the company 12 years of "outstandingly reliable and cost-effective service".

Supplied by Derby dealer Mertrux, the Atego trucks have curtainside bodies by Transport Enterprises, and are the subject of a five-year contract hire agreement with Mertrux Group's finance arm Pentagon Vehicle Rentals.

Each new truck has the Motor Stop Start (MSS) system as standard, to improve fuel economy and reduce emissions by switching off the 180bhp engine whenever the vehicle is in neutral and stationary for three seconds.

"We changed to Mercedes-Benz back in 2000 and it's proved to be a very wise decision," comments Roy Aldred, group purchasing manager at Hodgson & Hodgson.

"This is the second time that we've moved three 7.5-tonne Ategos out and replaced them with three more. They have never let us down and have always been reliable, fuel-efficient and popular with our drivers."
