Horiba Mira opens £8m advanced emissions test centre06 July 2017

Engineering and research organisation Horiba Mira has unveiled a new £8 million advanced emissions test centre (AETC) in Nuneaton, where it will undertake global compliance emissions testing.

Opened yesterday (5 July) by Horiba’s chairman, CEO and president Atsushi Horiba, the 12,000 sq ft facility centres around a four-wheel-drive climatic chassis dynamometer and includes three individual climatic soak rooms and an ambient soak room (pictured).

The dynamometer, range of climatic conditions and Horiba’s emissions systems will allow exhaust pollutants to be determined for temperatures of -20°C to 35°C.

Engineers will work with vehicle manufacturers, offering the full range of emissions testing to comply with current and foreseen future emissions regulations, including additional type approval for RDE (real world driving emissions).

“Vehicle manufacturers will now have access to world-class facilities and engineers to ensure their vehicles meet new emissions regulations, housed in one location in our central England headquarters,” says George Gillespie OBE, chief executive at Horiba Mira.
