Horton Commercials opens new £2m site13 November 2017

Bodybuilder and accident repair firm Horton Commercials has invested £2 million in a new production centre in Ferdown, Dorset.

The 1.1 acre, former Marben Engineering site on Ferndown Industrial Estate has been rebuilt to accommodate production of bespoke vehicle bodies, as well as Horton’s own range, including the Easy Mover which offers high volume and high weight capacities in the 3.5-tonne van market.

Founder Dave Wolfenden (pictured, centre) says that with his current management team in place, including general manager Jeff Wentworth, production manager Chris Chaffey (left) and sales manager Richard Hall (right), the company now has the premises and facilities to meet demand.

“A full gantry lifting system to aid production and improve health and safety for the site has also been introduced. We have now started to also expand the team of coachbuilders and expect to provide in-house training to welder/fabricators and sheet metal workers as production capacity increases,” said Wolfenden.

The company is retaining its original site, on the same industrial estate, for vehicle refurbishments.
