Howard Tenens replaces long-life trailers with eight new reefers 12 October 2015

National logistics business Howard Tenens has taken delivery of eight new Schmitz Cargobull S.KO Cool tri-axle deep freeze trailers, for a fruit and vegetable contract around the south of England.

The reefers will be double-shifted on a 24/7 basis, with a double-deck system enabling 26 additional pallets to be transported.

“We have run our existing Schmitz Cargobull reefers for 12 years – well beyond the traditional life expectancy for a trailer of this type,” says Paul Gowland, group fleet manager at Howard Tenens.

“Now we are replacing them, Schmitz Cargobull was the obvious and indeed only choice for the new trailers to support our long-term fruit and vegetable contract over the next decade.”

The refrigerated trailers feature the manufacturer’s double decker loading system, which is designed to attach to recessed wall-mounted rails and purpose-built support beams set just below roof level. This ensures an even and constant airflow throughout the loadspace.

The system is easily assembled and disassembled, giving Howard Tenens flexibility with its payload. The height-adjustable support beams allow for greater load versatility and the provision of additional capacity.

Schmitz Cargobull has also fitted its MF6 PIEK-certified multi-function floor, which coupled with the quiet refrigeration units, reduces noise emissions to less than 60 dB.

Gowland says the trailer’s build quality and durability “give it an edge in a very competitive market”.
