Impact Handling offers MAFI in-plant tractors to UK operators02 July 2014

Impact Handling is offering a new range of in-plant tractors to UK operators, following its appointment as sole distributor for MAFI Transport Systems.

The range of specialist distribution, terminal, Ro-Ro and heavy-duty tractor units have a choice of Cummins, Mercedes and Volvo engines, plus Allison or ZF transmissions, depending on the model. They also feature Kessler axles.

The MAFI range – built in Germany – complements Impact's existing line-up of forklift truck and warehouse products.

In-plant operations with a MAFI, says Impact, are much faster than with a conventional road tractor as drivers can safely load the trailer without leaving the tractor.

Impact believes the T 225 D 4x2 distribution tractor will prove most popular. A 3.5m wheelbase gives optimal working space between the trailer and the cab – even for trailers with nose-mounted refrigeration units.

A 210-litre diesel tank enables a three-shift operation, and the specification includes rear air-suspension and a hydraulically elevating fifth wheel with a 25-tonne lifting capacity, operated via a joystick in the cab.

Low profile 295/60 R 22.5 tyres provide a low fifth wheel height for operation with trailers parked at different heights. The cab can be specified in right- or left-hand drive, and the XXL glass cabin has a fully glazed door.

The first demonstrator model of the T 225 D is now available for customer trials.
