IRTE conference returns on 27 September21 May 2018

The IRTE’s own technical conference for commercial vehicle operators returns on 27 September.

The event, held at the Leicester Marriott hotel, will feature speakers presenting the technical aspects of compliance with tighter emission regulations, as well as new engine developments (Ricardo on lean-burn gas engines) and a speech from traffic commissioner Nick Jones about the new Welsh traffic office.

This year’s conference has a special bus focus, with a combined presentation led by Richard Harrington in Go-Ahead London’s efforts to develop an all-electric bus, as well as two examples of bus retrofit projects to meet increasing emissions standards.

Two afternoon sessions explore other topics in more detail. While the regulatory session considers the operational aspects of DVSA’s new Earned Recognition programme, the technology session considers the ins and outs of predictive maintenance, followed by a practical session on skills development and training.

To round off the conference from a different perspective, Henk van Leuven, director, Team Petronas De Rooy IVECO, talks about the design and engineering of trucks in off-road races such as the Dakar Rally.

In addition to the full-day conference and exhibition, an evening meal the previous evening is being organised as usual, followed by entertainment from cricket broadcaster Henry Blofeld OBE.

The event is organised by the publishers of Transport Engineer magazine.
