The early-bird discount ends this Friday (11 August) for the IRTE Conference 2017

The final speaker of the IRTE Conference (28 September; Chesford Grange, Kenilworth) has just been named as Nick Denton, Traffic Commissioner of the West Midlands, who will examine how operators’ levels of compliance can suffer through poor recordkeeping.

In addition, delegates planning to attend the event are being advised that the early-bird discount ends this Friday 11 August 2017.

Bookings before the deadline are priced at £390 for IRTE members, including the pre-conference dinner, hotel, and breakfast (£420 after the deadline). For non-members those prices are £450 rising to £480. The day rate only is currently £210 for IRTE members (but £240 after Friday), and £270 for non-members (£300 after Friday).

Delegates can expect a packed agenda aimed at highlighting best practice and new technologies capable of cutting costs, improving competitiveness and ensuring compliance. Speakers represent Ricardo, TfL, DVSA, Renault, DAF, Volvo, Mercedes-Benz, Cenex, Don-Bur, FTA, Rygor and others.

The technology keynote will be delivered by Dr Phil Greening, associate professor and director, The Centre for Sustainable Road Freight, who will explore engineering challenges posed by alternative fuels and the future of logistics.

Other speakers include: Ricardo’s Andrew Banks on Euro VII; and a staged (mock) public enquiry presided over by Nick Denton and featuring Andrew Woolfall from Backhouse Jones.

There will also be sessions on alternative fuels, featuring speakers from natural gas supplier Gasrec, R&D organisation Cenex, and LowCVP, and the new world of operational compliance, featuring discussion of FORS, CLOCS and Truck Excellence.

Delegates can select from three seminar streams during the afternoon session, covering legislation, technology and fleet operational advances.

The event is preceded by a conference dinner on 27 September, where winners of the IRTE Fleet Engineer of the Year awards will be announced.
