Isotrak Group acquires Alcolock GB16 January 2018

Isotrak Group has announced the acquisition of Alcolock GB, supplier of breathalyser immobilisation systems to the bus, coach and wider commercial vehicle sector.

The latest acquisition is Isotrak’s second in seven months, following its purchase of fleet management technology business Verilocation in June last year.

Alcolock’s breathalyser technology integrates with a GPS unit, enabling customers to retrieve driver data and analysis via a web portal. If a driver’s alcohol content exceeds the legal or other pre-set lower limit, the vehicle is immobilised and an alert sent immediately.

Andrew Overton, Isotrak Group technology director and CEO of Verilocation, describes it as “a highly complementary add-on” to the current offering. He adds: “It will be fully integrated into our end-to-end telematics, journey management, camera and ePOD systems, which will immediately offer an enhanced system proposition to Verilocation and Isotrak customers.”

Jim Sumner, chairman of Isotrak Group, says: “Given DVLA statistics show that alcohol-related bans in the sector have increased by 59% in the past three years, the emphasis on safety and compliance in the commercial vehicle sector is higher than ever.

“Increasing insurance premiums, greater awareness of directors’ duties and the need to rehabilitate drivers given the industry shortage make for a compelling case to fit a breathalyser system.”

David Whittock, managing director of Alcolock GB, says the acquisition presents “a great opportunity” to take the business to the next level.
