Isuzu trucks are the cream of Cory’s Cornish fleet29 January 2015

Cory Environmental is three years into an eight-year contract with 54 Isuzu rigid trucks and says the vehicles are still delivering on all counts for its contract with Cornwall Council.

Supplied by dealer T Harvey & Sons, the 3.5- and 7.5-tonne rigids were replacements for Cory's existing vehicles. The Isuzus are fitted with a mix of refuse collection bodies, skip loaders and caged tippers, some of which have column tail-lifts.

"As part of the original evaluation exercise, we operated a demo truck around the Cornish lanes, as well as talking to other operators about the Isuzu marque," says Mark Hamblin, Cory's senior workshop manager.

"We talked at length with T Harvey ... and they really impressed us with their attention to detail. Three years on, their subsequent hands-on involvement has been second to none," adds Hamblin.

The trucks too, he says, have lived up to the promise on reliability and payload.

Key to their success is the compact footprint of the trucks, making them ideal for narrow Cornish lanes. Cory reports no accessibility issues with the Isuzu vehicles since the contract started.

Most of the trucks cover approximately 20,000 miles a year, with two notable exceptions. A 3.5-tonne caged Isuzu N35.150 tipper has already covered more than 100,000 miles in its first three years, while one of the 7.5-tonne Isuzu N75.190 skip loaders has travelled 120,000 miles in the same period.
