Isuzu UK technicians step up to a podium finish in Japan26 November 2015

A technical team from Isuzu Truck UK has followed up its win last year with another podium finish at Isuzu’s annual world technical competition, in Japan.

The team of two technicians and a coach finished in a highly creditable third place out of 43 teams representing 35 countries.

This year’s UK dealer network team comprised two different technicians to last year – Simon Abnett from MC Truck & Bus Maidstone and Steve Tancock from Harry Moore Commercials Exeter – along with a new coach, Liam Doyle, ITUK’s senior trainer in Hatfield.

During the day-long event, each of the 43 teams was given a number of tasks, including measuring cylinder head wear before reassembly, electrical testing and diagnostics and vehicle inspection and diagnostics. The teams then faced a written, timed exam, covering general and Isuzu-specific technical product knowledge.

Tim Hicks, head of service, warranty and training for Isuzu Truck UK, says: “It was another fantastic performance by the UK team and achieving consecutive podium finishes, the first in 2014 and now in 2015, confirms the levels of skills and expertise that we have throughout the technical staff within our dealer network.”

The competition was won by a team from Japan, with New Zealand in second place.
