Iveco and Renault drive off with international van and truck awards 25 September 2014

Iveco and Renault have scooped top prizes for their latest vehicles, with Iveco's New Daily winning International Van of the Year 2015 and Renault taking International Truck of the Year for its Range T.

The New Daily beat the Mercedes-Benz Vito and Ford Transit into second and third place respectively. It marks a notable achievement for Iveco, with 12 new LCVs vying for the title in the hotly contested category.

Claudio Zanframundo, managing director of Iveco in the UK and Ireland, said: "New Daily has enjoyed a fantastic response from the market ever since its international unveiling in June.

"We knew New Daily was something special, and this award is independent recognition of its achievements, at the highest possible level."

Renault Trucks' Range T, meanwhile, was judged International Truck of the Year and was 48 points clear of its nearest rival. Judges said it had made the most significant contribution to road haulage this year.

The jury, comprising representatives from the international trade press, made particular reference to the Range T's aerodynamic features and its cab design, which offers greater driver comfort.

Bruno Blin, president of Renault Trucks, said the company had entered "a whole new era" with the launch of this range a year ago.

"This award makes us proud [and] it will also bring pride to those who purchase our trucks and drive them," he said.

Both awards were presented at a gala dinner to open the IAA Commercial Vehicle Show, in Hanover this week (25 September to 2 October 2014).
