Iveco launches lower-power Eurocargo for local tradesmen 10 February 2012

Iveco is plugging what it sees as a gap in the commercial vehicle market, with the launch of a 7.5 tonne Eurocargo rigid, designed for tradesmen and local retailers.

The Eurocargo 75E14 will harness Iveco's proven 3.9 litre four-cylinder 140bhp, 460Nm FPT Industrial Tector engine, but matched to a five speed manual gearbox.

Martin Flach, product director for Iveco in the UK and Ireland, makes the point that jobbing builders and the like drive to and from site, but then leave their commercial vehicles parked.

"So they want a premium specification but they don't need high horsepower engines or automatic transmissions, because they're not going to be doing high mileage."

Like all Iveco medium and heavy trucks, it s also certified to meet the Euro 5 beating voluntary EEV (enhanced environmentally friendly vehicle) standard.

Prices start at £49,900, so £1,600 less than the standard 75E16 160bhp model with automated transmission.

In other news, Iveco has also now re-launched so-called DriveAway options for the Daily range, with bodied 3.5 tonne New Daily chassic cabes and chassis crew cabs available off dealer forecourts.

The line-up initially includes Luton vans, tippers and dropsides, all available for immediate delivery, although Flach expects to increase the range over the coming months.

"This new turnkey solution essentially means that an operator can walk into their local dealership and drive away in a bodied vehicle that same day," says Flach.
