James Booth improves productivity on lightweight tipping trailers 24 May 2013

Bulk tipper operator James Booth is deploying a batch of Hyva-equipped lightweight tipping trailers into its fleet, with the aim of raising operating productivity.

Director Barry Booth explains that the company has taken four Wilcox MegaLites, coupled to DAF and MAN 6x2 tractor units, and each has been fitted with a five-stage Hyva FC169 tipping cylinder.

With an unladen tipping trailer weight below six tonnes, and a 10mm internal bodyliner, there is now a potential payload of more than 30 tonnes.

So, compared to conventionally specified 44-tonne gcw bulk tipping artics, the new combinations can carry an extra tonne of payload on every trip.

"There's no point hauling around unnecessary deadweight," comments Boooth.

"In every area, we want to make our trucks as productive as possible – but of course that productivity must also include other things such as reliability, efficiency and streamlining our operating costs," he adds.
