JC Balls takes second MAN for heavy haulage 16 November 2010

Heavy haulage firm JC Balls & Sons in Belper, Derbyshire, has added a new MAN TGX 26.540BLS 540bhp 6x4 tractor unit to its fleet, citing MAN's attention to detail as key to the choice.

The truck, plated at 80 tonnes for CAT2 operations, joins a TGS 26.400 6x2 rigid, with Hiab crane, bought in 2009.

Company director Kevin Balls says the specification service he received from his local MAN Truck Centre, HRVS in Ripley, has been first-class throughout.

"We were deeply impressed by HRVS's professionalism," says Balls. "They thought of everything and no detail was too small. John Donnelly, MAN's heavy haulage expert, has got to be the best in the business, and Keith Sims at HRVS was superb."

The new tractor has been dedicated for use with JC Balls' low-loader, which has a 40 tonne excavator on-board, and Balls says the chassis specification has proved to be "absolutely spot on".
