JDP boosts safety pipeline with Ryder 17 May 2019

Civils and drainage product supplier JDP has taken delivery of its latest vehicles, all equipped with features to comply with the operator’s Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) Silver accreditation.

Supplied by commercial vehicle rental and hire business Ryder, the Carlisle-based operator’s new additions are DAF 7.5-tonne LF150 rigids as well as 18-tonne LF220 dropsides, which are equipped with Atlas 135.2E A2 radio remote control cranes.

FORS-compliant features on the new trucks include left-turn audible alarm, Vehcam 360° camera system with in-cab monitor and sat nav, side sensors and an in-cab camera to monitor driver behaviour.

Ryder is also retrofitting the equipment to older vehicles in JDP’s 49-strong fleet, and is providing familiarisation training for drivers.

Jayne Bar, transport supervisor at JDP, says: “A lot of our customers and potential customers are looking for us to be FORS Silver as their minimum standard. Ensuring that our fleet continues to meet this standard sends the right message to customers, colleagues and other road users.”

She adds: “Partnering with Ryder helps JDP to implement a safer and more efficient fleet.”
