JK Ashbrook selects trio of Volvo trucks for the first time 10 December 2015

Specialist haulier JK Ashbrook has put three new Volvo FH-500 tractor units, including one 65-tonne gcw tag-axle unit for STGO CAT 2 operation, into service.

These are its first Volvo trucks and they join the Somerford, Congleton, Cheshire-based firm’s seven-strong fleet, which specialises in low loader work, contract haulage and plant movements.

Transport manager Jay Harper says his company went for Volvo because of “the keen price” and Thomas Hardie Commercials’ flexibility – including in terms of weekend and trailer servicing.

Beyond the heavy haulage tractor, JK Ashbrook selected two FH 6x2 pusher-axle units for 44-tonnes operation.

All were specified with Globetrotter cabs and 3.9 metre wheelbases. They drive through I-Shift AMTs (automated manual transmissions).

All three new trucks are being maintained by Thomas Hardie Commercials, Middlewich on five-year, Volvo Gold R&M contracts.

Thomas Hardie Commercials is also maintaining the company’s three new Faymonville step frame trailers under contract at Middlewich.

While the large FH tag-axle tractor unit has been put to work on UK and international duties, delivering and collecting machines, the two FH 6x2 pusher axle tractors are delivering precast concrete products in the North-West of England.
