John Pearce Glynneath expands fleet with new Mercedes rigid06 September 2017

South Wales operator John Pearce Glynneath has taken delivery of a new Mercedes-Benz Actros, citing driver comfort and operational efficiency as reasons for choosing its first new Mercedes rigid for 15 years.

Supplied by dealer Euro Commercials with funding from Mercedes-Benz Financial Services, the 18-tonne Actros 1824L curtainsider is powered by a 238bhp engine and has a StreamSpace cab. The 16-pallet body with curved roof profile is by Newland Coachworks, of Northampton.

The rigid is joined by three new Actros 2545 tractors, also from the same dealer, and which also have StreamSpace cabs. The tractors are supplied with two-year R&M contracts, while John Pearce has signed up to a four-year agreement for the 18-tonner.

John Pearce’s 50-strong fleet also includes four other Mercedes rigids, all pre-owned, four Actros 2545s and a 7.5-tonne Fuso Canter.

The FORS Bronze operator says Euro Commercials does “an excellent job”, with managing director Clive Davies adding: “The dealer is also very flexible when it comes to collecting our trucks for inspections and services, and returning them afterwards.”
