John Raymond Transport grows with more Volvo FH tractors07 December 2016

John Raymond Transport has acquired six Volvo FH tractor units following its acquisition by the Nolan Group in September (2016) and subsequent expansion of the business.

The haulier chose Volvo’s Globetrotter cab, the 13 litre 460bhp engine driving through the I-Shift AMT (automated manual transmission) with Volvo’s Fuel & Economy software package. It also specified 315/70 tyres and full air management kits.

John Raymond managing director Paul Johns says the purchasing decision was based on factors including good fuel performance from the fleet’s existing FH tractors, coupled with the back-up from the Volvo Trucks dealership.

“We purchased 50 Volvo tractor units four years ago. They, and the Volvo dealership, have performed well during that period, with very little downtime,” states Johns.

“Truck and Bus Wales & West, and their sales team, played a significant part in the decision making process,” he continues, adding that they were also able to provide the tractors at short notice.

All the operator’s new tractors are on Volvo R&M contracts with Truck and Bus Wales & West.
