Kent haulier stops damage and speeds loading on freepost trailers 26 March 2010

Kent-based haulier Salvatori has taken delivery of eight new Schmitz Cargobull SCS Freepost curtainsider trailers, selected for their flexibility of loading.

The trailers bring Salvatori's fleet up to more than 80 vehicles, and will be delivering fresh fruit between growers and a juicing factory.

"The trailers are often dropped off and left at farms where they are loaded without our driver present," says Salvatori workshop manager Steve Webster.

"In the past, the heavy wood or plastic storage, used to transport the fruit, have caused damage to the sideposts of our curtainsiders during the loading at the farms," he continues.

Webster says that the SCS Freeposts' lack of side posts, the entire length of the trailer is unobstructed, so can be used for loading and unloading – saving on the damage, but also improving speed, flexibility and efficiency.

He also comments on Schmitz Cargobull's robust construction methods citing its weld-free bolted and galvanized production, and the 10-year corrosion resistance guarantee.

Hitherto, Salvatori has only bought used Schmitz trailers.

"We have been impressed by the build quality of the used Schmitz Cargobull trailers and, after visiting the factory in County Durham for a demonstration, we were in no doubt that the Schmitz Cargobull Freepost trailer was the product for us," says Webster.
