KHL Logistics chooses more Volvo FM transporters 30 July 2013

Swansea-based vehicle transporter specialist KHL Logistics says it is about to place an order for its first Euro 6 Volvo FM truck, which will join seven other FMs on its fleet.

The company's most recent FM specifications have been for the 11-litre, Volvo D11C450 engine, rated at 450bhp, with the automated I-Shift gearbox, with each expected to give 10 years service.

Both its latest 4x2 FMs (one '13' and the other '62' plate) were equipped with LOHR's Eurolohr 300 transporter bodywork, fitted by Belle Trailers. Typically, the FMs carry eleven medium sized family saloon cars of different makes.

KHL director Alf Leswisse says it's not just the truck that brings him back to Volvo. He also cites the relationship with local Volvo dealer Truck and Bus Wales & West and the fact that its workshops are open until 10pm Monday to Friday and Saturday morning.

This, says Leswisse, suits the operational profile of the fleet, where the Volvos are on tramping duties during the week, returning to base only for the weekends.
