Built on a Mercedes-Benz Antos 2535 truck supplied by Northside Truck & Van, the onboard Palfinger PK 19.001 SLD5 with an A boom is supplied with a radio remote control for improved usability and safety. Its lightweight design enables higher payloads with a lifting capacity of 6,200kg and a maximum hydraulic outreach of 14.8m.
Built for heavy duty pile driving, the accompanying Orteco HD 800 truck-mounted Pile Driver has a hydraulic rotation system enabling operation from either side of the vehicle, as well as the ability to deliver 680 blows per minute with a 1060 joule hammer.
Additional features include 180-degree hydraulic, tiltable support legs; non-slip access stairs with safety door; integrated hand hygiene dispensers; work lighting; large storage compartments and Chapter 8-compliant vehicle markings.
“Since taking possession of this vehicle, it has been used to carry out all the safety fence repairs and street lighting column replacements within the Highways England Area 13 ALDM Contract,” says Karl Simpson, Kier’s regional transport and plant manager.
“It is performing above and beyond our expectations due to its manoeuvrability and with the extra payload it is enabling the team to take all the required materials to site in one trip, saving both time and money.”
