Kier sees benefits with Brigade’s vehicle recording systems11 January 2018

Kier Environmental has fitted CCTV solutions, from Brigade Electronics, to a 40-strong fleet of refuse collection vehicles (RCVs) that it deploys on a contract for Walthamstow Forest Borough Council.

The four-camera mobile digital recorder (MDR) system was selected to boost security after the vehicles were damaged – and, in the first four weeks of operation, Kier has been able to refute several claims.

The system was fitted to the trucks by TNK Engineering. The MDR systems record after the vehicle ignition is switched off, effectively creating a 24-hour CCTV solution for the depot.

Two of the systems have been set to record on motion detection, triggering a recording for up to 30 minutes. The other systems are set to post record so that there is coverage between shifts.

“The installation of the equipment was effective and we are already seeing the benefits,” says Simon Whitelock, Kier’s transport manager, adding: “The standard and efficiency of the work carried out by TNK Engineering was impressive.”
