Large Ford Transit Custom order placed by Autoglass02 August 2013

Autoglass has confirmed its support for Ford with a delivery of nearly one hundred new Ford Transit Custom vans, 44 years after the company received its first Ford Transit.

The vehicle glass repair and replacement company serves more than one million motorists a year and has 100 branches across the country, and is refreshing its 1,250-strong Transit van fleet with the 90 Transit Customs.

Each of the vans is equipped with racking to carry the firm's stock-in-trade as well as an electrical conversion unit to provide 240V power for tools and equipment.

Given the increasing trend for larger windscreens with greater curvature in modern cars, Autoglass says it has to increase the size of its staple work vehicle to enable its mobile technicians to carry larger vehicle glass.

"The 290 long wheelbase Transit Custom meets our needs perfectly and is being well received by our mobile technicians," says Ged Raymond, fleet manager at Autoglass. "They have always loved the Ford Transit and they like this one even more thanks to its comfort and drivability."

"The Ford Transit has been the mainstay of our fleet for 44 years, which speaks volumes for the product," adds Raymond. "Ford continues to offer the best value solution for Autoglass® in terms of cost, reliability and dealer support."
