Logistics and transport sector gathers for CILT annual awards23 October 2015

The chairman and founder of retail logistics operator Clipper Logistics, Steven Parkin, has won an award for outstanding achievement from the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT).

The award was one of several presented last night (22 October) at CILT’s annual awards dinner, in London.

Allport Cargo Services and Sainsbury’s picked up top prize for freight transport best practice; the warehouse operations award went to United Biscuits in partnership with Logistex; and Palletways was awarded the trophy for operational excellence.

Other awards included the environmental improvement trophy, which went to Reading Buses; supply chain best practice, won by SpringTide and DS Smith; the safety prize was won by Marshalls; and Cemex UK Logistics was the winner of the vulnerable road users safety trophy.

The event was chaired by CILT president and senior traffic commissioner Beverley Bell FCILT, and hosted by TV presenter Naga Munchetty. CILT patron HRH The Princess Royal presented the awards to each winner.

Joint winners of the CILT president’s award were outgoing CILT chairman Neil Ashworth and outgoing chief executive Steve Agg, both cited for their commitment and work with the institute.
