The new additions – two tippers, two hookloaders and ten skiploaders – will mean the operator’s 75-strong fleet is 95% Scania. A further eight trucks are on order for delivery in 2019.
Nigel Woolford, managing director of LSS Waste, has more than 34 years’ experience in the demanding sector and says: “Scania are without doubt the best trucks we have run by far.”
Feedback from drivers of the new XT is “outstanding”, says Woolford, and fuel tests are already showing improved performance compared with the previous vehicles.
“While the Scania vehicles cost a little more, the return is far greater with the better fuel economy, hardly any downtime, and fantastic care from purchase to service from Scania,” he says. “Scania is first class in all respects from purchasing to service.”
Sally Johnson, workshop and fleet manager for LSS, says the new-generation cabs “have a real presence”, adding: “I’m positive that the engineering and design changes on the XT range will also benefit us in terms of uptime.”
The vehicles will be serviced by Scania Normanton.
