Macpherson chooses SmartCheck defect recording 20 June 2014

Family-owned Macpherson Coaches says vehicle defect reporting has been simplified since adopting the SmartCheck system for its fleet of nine coaches and seven buses.

Managing director Neil Macpherson explains that his drivers use their smartphones to run the SmartCheck application on their daily walk around checks, and says this has now replaced paper-based systems.

"We use SmartCheck to simplify the daily checks for the driver – there is no other similar system available that could do the same job," states Macpherson.

"We finish with an electronic record, not paper documentation, which makes the information much easier to store," he continues – adding that it is very simple to use and the drivers like it and the fact that it links to their tachos.

"Previously, our defect records weren't always complete, but now we have a full set of reports, and if there is a defect we can print off the information and attach it to the relevant job sheet for the repair," he says.

Macpherson Coaches is also using SmartCheck to capture photos for defect reporting – meaning that drivers away from the depot can email defect pictures back to base – making it easier and quicker to resolve problems.
