Mahle heads up for Euro 6 with new filter modules 12 December 2012

New fuel, air and oil filter modules that meet the requirements of the forthcoming Euro 6 truck and bus engine emissions legislation have been launched by the Mahle Group.

When the legislation comes into effect at the end of 2013, air mass flow measurement will be implemented in modern CV engines.

To ensure proper functioning of the air mass flow sensors, which are at risk of particle loading, engine manufacturers expect air filter modules with increased separation levels, greater than 99.5%.

To meet this requirement and the demand for new packaging, which may see air filter modules located behind the driver's cab, Mahle's latest units have been designed with low-profile plasticised filter inserts, in conjunction with filter media using a nanofibre layer, giving very tight pleat distribution.

In the new oil filter module, the coolant pump, coolant thermostat and sensors for temperature control have all been integrated to reduce the number of interfaces and sealing points.
