MAN starts ‘Consistently Efficient’ Tour 201116 May 2011

Today (May 16, 2011), two MAN TGX EfficientLine semi-trailer tractors and a reference vehicle, each with semi-trailers bearing the MAN's 'Consistently Efficient' message, will start on a 10,000km tour of Europe.

The objective is to demonstrate how much fuel and CO2 can be saved – with a blog charting every stage of the tour, showing routes and fuel consumption, and focusing on other possibilities for improving transport efficiency.

The trucks will be stopping at 20 MAN centres in 10 countries, where MAN's efficiency experts will offer advice to customers and interested parties on saving fuel.

MAN is drawing attention to several technical aspects, including: aerodynamics of the tractor and trailer; and appropriate tyres optimised for reduced rolling resistance; the rightr lubricants and fuels; good drivetrains and excellence in driver training, through MAN ProfiDrive.

Partners on the tour include Castrol, Kögel, Michelin and ZF. Fuel consumption measurements for the entire route have already been verified by TÜV Süd, while the MAN TeleMatics system gives vehicle data.
