Manfreight has the lot with Volvo limited edition truck11 April 2017

Chris Slowey of Manfreight is the proud owner of a limited edition Volvo FH16-750, after bidding for the vehicle at a gala dinner, held last week in Birmingham as part of Volvo UK’s 50th anniversary celebrations.

The vehicle was the highlight of a charity auction, with Volvo committing to donate all funds above the truck’s reserve price of £100,000 to charity.

Slowey’s successful bid was £220,000, and his chosen charity was Cystic Fibrosis, which will share the resulting donation of £120,000 with Transaid.

The vehicle has a special plate, FH16 ONE, and features artwork by truck artist Matt Paint, depicting key trucks in Volvo’s 50 years in the UK. The back of the cab has portraits of Jim Keyden and Jim McKelvie, who first brought Volvo trucks to the UK under the guise of their company Ailsa Trucks.

Pictured(L-R) with the limited edition FH16-750 are: Volvo Group UK managing director Arne Knaben; Chris Slowey, Manfreight’s managing director; Roger Alm, president of Volvo Trucks Europe; and gala dinner host, broadcaster Jonathan Ross.
