Masternaut launches world’s first all-in-one vehicle telematics 01 October 2010

Masternaut has launched what it claims is the world's first vehicle tracking system, based around a single intelligent mobile communication unit.

Martin Port, managing director of Masternaut Three X, explains that the system comprises vehicle tracking with GPS satellite navigation, hands-free mobile communications and real-time job scheduling and messaging.

With 150,000 telematics units installed across Europe and more than 65,000 subscribers in the UK, the company believes this new product will eliminate the need for separate Sat-Nav, mobile phones and hands-free equipment in vehicles.

"As a fully integrated system, it reduces cost of ownership removing the need for extra equipment, installations and maintenance. Drivers – the users – will also appreciate that they only have to use a single device and will prefer the familiar look and use of the touchscreen," says Port.

The system is available with Masternaut's optional CANbus engine management application. This monitors driving behaviour and engine activity in real time, including rpm, fuel usage, vehicle speed, journey distance between stops and duration, and braking as well as acceleration levels.
