Matt Lorne Transport reports fuel improvements with Krone drum brakes21 April 2017

East Yorkshire-based Matt Lorne Transport is reporting improved fuel performance from its Krone drum brakes, with owner Matt Lorne confirming “operational benefits through improved fuel consumption, and our drivers say the trailers handle perfectly”.

The Goole-based operator is the first in the UK to specify Krone drum brakes and its trailers have been on the road for two months.

The company has taken delivery of five Krone sliding-roof Profi Liner curtainsiders, to transport bathroom units and modular buildings across the UK.

“There’s no other sliding roof like it,” says Lorne. “The fabrication quality is miles ahead of the game. Plus, with strapping points every 100 mm down each side rave, we can secure at any point along the trailer bed, even from inside the closed curtain, which is a safety-plus.”

The axle comes with a six-year unlimited mileage warranty.

Krone says it has orders from other UK operators for 50 more trailers fitted with Krone axles and drum brakes.
