Maynes confirms MAN and Neoplan over Volvo 03 June 2010

Maynes of Buckie, the corporate hire and tour operator, has taken delivery of six new MAN and Neoplan touring coaches.

Five Neoplan P22 Tourliners and an MAN R33 chassis with Plaxton Panther body bring Maynes total for the marques to 12 in a fleet of 28 vehicles.

The Touring Plus specification includes a 440bhp EEV Euro 5 EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) engine, 49 half-leather Kiel recliners, MAN TipMatic automated gearbox, centre sunken toilet, media pack including SatNav, reversing camera, two monitors, CD multi-changer, iPod connection, road ahead camera and alloy wheels.

"We're very impressed with the whole MAN package," comments Maynes of Buckie managing director, Kevin Mayne, "particularly with the aftersales support we receive from Elgin Truck & Van and MAN Truck & Bus Aberdeen."

And he adds: "No AdBlue is proving to be a real financial benefit, too. In our own comparisons, we expect to save £350 per year, per vehicle, with our EGR-powered 'add nothing' engines."

Three of the Tourliners will go into service on corporate work, primarily within the whisky industry, and feature 41 seats, three tables and DVD/Sky entertainment systems. The Plaxton body comes with 53 seats, three-point seat belts and on-board TV/DVD system.
